If you are considering booking in for the School Holiday programs, and want to know more, your questions might be answered here? If not, you can always contact us.
Do you run the program when it rains? Yes, our program is cancelled only if a severe weather event is forecast. Rainy days are very fun days in the bush – even in winter! Children must bring a good raincoat and spare clothes to change into.
Can my four-year-old attend? Sorry, no. It is an insurance requirement for us to offer this program only to children aged 5 and older. Children younger than 5 years require parent supervision and this is a kids-only, drop-off program.
How many children will be on site? Our programs cater for groups of up to 30 children. We have three staff members on site for a group this size, and often a volunteer also.
What qualifications do your staff have? Our leading staff are all experienced and trained in our Nature Mentor approach, All our staff are qualified with education or outdoor recreation qualifications. Every staff member must have full first aid and child protection qualifications as well as a current Blue Card.
Can I stay with my child? This is a kids-only day just for children to experience adventure and children very quickly find their courage and sense of fun in the spirit of kids play. Adult presence changes this dramatically. We are very experienced at helping nervous children settle in to our programs. Let us know discreetly when you arrive and we will help them to say goodbye to you.
Do you provide food? All children must bring their own morning tea and lunch. A healthy lunch with no packaging please (we have no bins on site). We may do some cooking experiences with children on the campfire. You will inform us of any dietary requirements on your enrolment form.
Will my child stay with their friends? At times we divide the children into groups to easily manage our play experiences. All attempts are made to keep children with friends.
What about the snakes, mozzies, ticks and spiders? They are all out there somewhere! We very rarely encounter any dangerous creatures in our activities, however all our staff are trained in first aid and our risk management procedures are designed to help children play with awareness to their environment. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately and has applied insect spray prior to beginning the session.
