2022 Outdoors Qld Awards WINNERS – The BRISBANE CITY COUNCIL EDCATION AWARD – Birdwings Forest School are proud to be joint winner with Loganlea State High School and for the educational value of nature immersion programs to be recognised by a state industry award.

2021 Outdoors Qld Awards FINALISTS – Birdwings Forest School are recognised as finalists in two categories – The Brisbane City Council Award for Outstanding Achievement (Organisation) This award is open to clubs, organisations and enterprises that have made a valuable contribution to the outdoor community and operate with professionalism and to high standards.

The Nature Play QLD Nature Play Education Award, This award is for educational services or institutions, such as schools or childcare centres, that have increased the time kids spend in outdoor learning, Forest School or unstructured outdoor play.

2020 Outdoors Qld Awards WINNERS – Qld Government Community Nature Play Award – Birdwings Forest School were finalists in this award in 2017, 2018 and 2019! Achieving recognition for our work in community and nature play in 2020.

The Mud Book: Nature Play Framework – a Childhoodnature project research study conducted by Southern Cross University exploring how children learn scientific concepts through nature play. This research has been compiled into a framework for educators to introduce learning through nature. Birdwings Forest School and other nature play providers made significant contributions to this research.

THE CONVERSATION: Children learn science long before they get to school classrooms and labs – an article discussing the research from the Childhoodnature project (see above), feature images from Birdwings Forest School and discussions about STEM, and specific forms of play that arises with children in nature.

“Back from the Brink, Season 2 Episode 5 : Richmond Birdwing Butterfly”, a collaboration with Natura Pacific where Birdwings Bush Club were included for our efforts to contribute to the habitat protection for the Richmond Birdwing Butterfly.
