APRIL 2022 JOB OPPORTUNITY- We currently have a position available for a Casual NATURE MENTOR / FOREST SCHOOL LEADER with our Little Birdwings program.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS – The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:

early childhood qualifications (diploma or above),
-
previous experience working in nature with children under school age,
-
Blue Card, 1st Aid and Child Protection certificates
-
personal experience and connection to wild nature. This position is well suited to those who thoroughly enjoy camping, hiking and having wild adventures.

POSITION DESCRIPTION – The Nature Mentor is an early childhood qualified educator who leads the Little Birdwings program with children aged 18 months – 5 years. Little Birdwings is a multi-age kindy-style program that runs outdoors in nature for an 8hr day. The main tasks include:

risk assessing outdoor spaces – safety checks, and dynamic risk assessments in new areas
-
setting/packing up resources,
-
care of the child (building relationships, dressing, toileting/nappy changes, supervising eating and drinking of water and child’s personal needs)

supervision of play in a variety of natural play spaces in all weathers (creek play, bush play, scrambling, loose parts play, etc)
-
clear and professional communication with co-workers and families
-
documentation (daily observations, visual documentation in group journal)
-
personal reflection tasks (monthly requirement)
The casual position is initially for 2 full days per week with flexibility after a 3 month trial. Wages are casual in accordance with the Miscellaneous Award.
