Adventure Club is a weekly therapeutic outdoor recreation and nature play program designed to support children with growth-based opportunities to connect with nature, develop confidence, social awareness, self-regulation, executive functioning and organisation. No, this is not an outdoor classroom! This is the beginning of an adventurous life.
We know that children learn best when they are physically engaged in their experiences and when they have healthy brain-body connections. There are so many more skills required for successful learning – other than literacy and numeracy.

Adventure Club grew from witnessing the zest for adventure and discovery that arises in children when they are confident in their bodies. Our approach is guided by trauma-informed approaches, therapeutic nature connection practices and creative arts practices.

Children who have many hours of wild nature play have had ample opportunity to develop great core strength, muscle tone, balance and they are ready to see what they can do!
Adventure Club children do everything themselves, including setting up and packing up Base Camp, packing and carrying their own belongings, planning their shared adventure and researching and documenting their discoveries
Along the way the children learn about themselves, each other, and the world. They develop a healthy relationship with the word “challenge” and “risk”, rolling it all into a playful adventure together.

Children’s physical endurance and emotional endurance will grow through adventure play and exploration. Their empathy for each other and the environment also grows through shared experiences in nature.

With this wisdom, children develop a vocabulary based around their immediate natural world and are very capable of planning an adventure in wild nature based on a growing knowledge of the local environments, landscape, animal activity and weather conditions.
